SPF, which is an abbreviation for Sender Policy Framework, is an authentication system that is aimed at blocking the so-called email forging. In simple terms, this means sending a message from one e-mail address and making it seem to be sent from another with the idea to scam in some way the person receiving it. In the event that the SPF protection is activated for a domain, a record which contains all of the mail servers authorized to send messages with addresses within the domain is generated. The record is stored on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic all over the world, therefore they all will identify if an email message comes from a trustworthy server or not. The verification is conducted at the first server where the email goes through and in the first case the e-mail message is forwarded, while in the second it is discarded and it never reaches the supposed recipient. Applying SPF records for your domain names will prevent all unauthorized people from using your email addresses for malicious objectives.
SPF Protection in Shared Hosting
When you host your domains in a shared hosting account on our end and we manage the e-mail addresses for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for any of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is accessible in its own section where you can view which domain names are already protected. For those that are not, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection service and set up various things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and to set a rule that email messages can be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. The aforementioned option is the most secure one, but it can be used when we take care of the e-mail addresses for your domains and you are not using another e-mail supplier. The new records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail with your e-mail addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The SPF protection attribute comes with all of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to use this service effortlessly for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a quite easy to work with interface, which means that you won't have to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your email addresses. You'll simply need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send emails from your addresses and shortly after that the updated record will be active for the domain that you have chosen. As an additional option, we will also allow you to restrict your outgoing emails and secure your mailboxes even better by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain name involved contains our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain name should be handled on our end and not by some other supplier. In this way you'll enjoy even superior control and there will not be any chance for any person to counterfeit your e-mail addresses for harmful purposes.
